Why do we need to be concerned about water pollution in China?
Water pollution is currently China's most serious environmental problem. Up till today, 70% of China's rivers, lakes and ponds have been polluted. One out of every four people living in China is drinking unclean water. Faced with both threats to the health and natural environment, many people in China do not have any means to address these critical issues.
Even though we are located in Hong Kong, we import vegetables and fish everyday from mainland, and as a result, we are also exposed to the dangers of water pollution. Solving China's water pollution problem is currently Greenpeace's most urgent task.

"World Water Day" and "Fill Our Cup with Hope" Project
The United Nations has designated March 22nd as World Water Day, and this year, the theme is "Communicating water quality challenges and opportunities". Greenpeace has taken this opportunity to organize Fill Our Cup with Hope" Project, to raise awareness of China's water pollution crisis and the danger it poses to Hong Kong. Greenpeace is also encouraging people to donate on the cost of their favorite drinks to help support Greenpeace's efforts to address water pollution in China, and to give people in China clean drinking water.
