Fill Our Cup With Hope in China

As a developing country, China has a big impact on the global environment.  Greenpeace believes that economic development does not have to come at the cost of the environment. Everybody in China and in the world deserves access to clean water.

"Zero emissions" and "the public right to know" Greenpeace believes "Zero emissions" is the key to solving China's water pollution crisis. By making pollution data available to the public, setting up an Environmental Information Disclosure system, is also a good way of reducing water pollution. Greenpeace is calling on industries to reduce and eliminate their use of hazardous chemicals by replacing them with safe alternatives.

At the same time, Greenpeace cooperates and advises the government on water pollution and continues to push for more transparency in handling industrial pollution.

The public have a right to know about what is being released into their rivers so local governments should establish systems and require enterprises to publish their environmental data on these platforms.

"I can't find the words to express my sorrow when I see entire villages located next to factories whose residents are suffering from health problems…When will we say that 'enough is enough'? Without clean water, nobody has a future."
